Congratulations to Yuba City Sadh Sangat for organizing an event of such magnitude! I would like to add some suggestions. Nothing from daas, they have been floating around in Sangat. We Sikhs either generally do not speak out or the management is so out of touch of ordinary folks(Sadh Sangat). So if I may? 1. No effort is made to educate people. majority of sangat do not know the purpose of the event. People just come to see the mela or driven by their deep belief in Guru Sahib to pay the respects (matha tekn). It was embarrassing when TV crew asked some youngsters about the purpose of the event ? message they were trying to send? No one knew a thing. I think that is our biggest failure as a community. 2. The floats should be strictly religious. No musical or cultural events should be included in the Nagar Kirtan. 3. Need to Impose some restrictions on music. which is sometimes so loud that you can not even listen to it. 3. S. Didar S. Bains is a very smart politician. The man deserve the respect of each and every Sikh. I do not consider myself worthy of giving him any advice. Though I will make a humble request that instead of wasting thousands of dollars on firecrackers, please(also) spend some on educational materials. Print or video.
